Meaningful therapeutic work isn’t just about doing, it’s about being. It’s about learning how to improve our internal experience, not simply our external behaviors. It’s figuring out how to “be” with ourselves in a more compassionate way.

My experience has taught me that traditional talk therapy is simply not always sufficient.  This has been especially true for my clients recovering from disordered eating, healing from a history of trauma, and struggling with aligning what they know and what they feel. As I worked with these individuals, I began to  recognize that more effective tools were needed to help them learn a more adaptive way to “be.” I became extensively trained in EMDR,  and more recently in Internal Family Systems (IFS) techniques, and found that these approaches allowed for deeper, more wholly realized healing.

My practice now centers on utilizing these techniques in conjunction with traditional talk therapy to address a variety of barriers to emotional wellbeing.

Much of my career has been devoted to the treatment of disordered eating and body image disturbance. I now focus on helping these clients heal from the experiences that helped to create and maintain their disordered eating, often in collaboration with their work in individual talk therapy.

Trauma resolution is another key focus for my clinical work. I have comprehensive experience working with relational and family of origin trauma, sexual trauma, sports trauma, and medical trauma.

And importantly, I welcome what I find to be a wholly underserved population, women who feel their lives upended by the tumult of perimenopause, menopause, and PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder).

In addition to my work with clients, I offer supervision for LPC Associates pursuing licensure in Texas, and consultation for CEDS candidates.

I hope that together we can accomplish some deep and meaningful work.
